Evergreen State Dahlia Association

The ESDA monthly meetings will be held at the Northwest Christian High School Common Room, located at 4710 Park Center Ave NE, Lacey WA 98516.  Social period starts at 5:30, with the meeting beginning at 6:00.  Snacks are always welcomed!

March 21, Saturday: 9:00 until work finish: Annual club tuber pack  Potluck luncheon.  Please bring a dish to pass, tubers for donation along with tags, staplers, staples, office supplies.  Brighton Park Grange, 815 Brighton Park SW, Tumwater, WA 98501

March 28, Saturday: Time TBA, Federation of NW dahlia growers spring meeting and workshop, Gig Harbor, Angus Dei Lutheran Church, 10511 Peacock Hill Ave, Gig Harbor, WA 98332.  Watch for E-mail from the Federation on agenda and times.

May 7, Thursday: 5:30 social, 6:00 meeting.  Presentation to be announced, Cutting and Tuber auction (open to paid club members only)

June
June 4, Thursday: 5:30 social, 6:00 meeting. How to clerk a show by Karen Sanchez.  Never been to a dahlia show?  How to get involved in the judging process as a clerk.  Clerking will give you the opportunity to see how dahlias are judged and is the first step to becoming a judge. A good reminder for ALL of us how our critical paperwork should be filled out! 

July
July 8th, Wednesday: (please note this is WEDNESDAY!) 5:30 -?? Annual ESDA Club BBQ.  Potluck, please bring a dish to pass and any blooms if you have them!  Located at Dina Wild's home, 154 Mohoric Rd, Chehalis WA  We will also go over show materials, filling out show tags and how to stage single and multiple bloom entries.

July 11, Saturday: Time TBA  Federation Summer meeting and workshop, Bellevue Botanical Gardens, 12001 Main St, Bellevue, WA 98005.  Watch your e-mail for an email from the Federation with time specifics and agenda.

July 25, Saturday: Time TBA  Federation Judge's Training, Agnus Dei Lutheran Church, 10511 Peacock Hill Ave, Gig Harbor, WA 98332  This is an annual requirement to maintain your judging status!  Classes available for all levels: clerk/novice to senior.

August
ITS SHOW TIME!!!  Please see the Federation of NW Dahlia Grower's Show page for specific dates and times for all of the shows between August and September.

August 2, Saturday: 9am-1pm Annual Trial Garden Judging, Point Defiance Trial Garden.  Judging seedlings is an annual judge requirement!  

August 7 Friday, 7:00p-9:00p ESDA Show Set up, Northwest Christian High School Gymnasium, 4710 Park Center Ave NE, Lacey, WA 98516  Many hands make light work!  Set-up the gymnasium for our annual show.  Club members may bring show entries this evening if desired

August 8, Saturday: 6:00am-5:00pm: ESDA Annual Show, set up and club arrival as early as 6:00am, Entries placed 7:00-9:30, Open to the public 11:30-4:30pm.  Please refer to the Annual show page and Federation Annual for specifics.

August 9, Sunday: 11:30-6:00pm: ESDA Annual Show, open to the public 11:30-4:30.  Awards at 3:30pm.  Show break-down and clean up immediately after.

September
September 8, Tuesday: 5:30-??  ESDA Table Show and Pot-Luck.  Please bring a dish to pass and entries for our club show.  Wayne Lobaugh's home, 113 Ramsey Rd, Chehalis, WA  Show classes are as follows:
1    Formal & Informal Decorative any size single and/or triple entries

2    Cactus types any size single and/or triple entries

3    Ball, mini-ball, and pom single and/or triple entries

4    All other fully-doubled dahlias single and/or triple entries

5    Open centered micros and Mignon singles, single and/or triple entries

6    All other open centered dahlias single and/or triple entries

October 1, Thursday: 5:30 social, 6:00 meeting.  Dahlia Forms & Color Refresher

November
November 5th, Thursday: 5:30 social, 6:00 meeting.  Presentation topic pending.  Annual Clump auction (open to club members only)

December
December 3rd, Thursday: 5:30 Annual Holiday Party.  Pot-luck dinner.  Please bring a dish to pass.  White elephant gift exchange; please bring a gift of $15-20 value for each person participating.  Dahlia BINGO as well!
